Social Science wing of SIEJ comprise history, civics, economics and geography sessions. It is headed by one Field Advisor and three Research Officer; one in each subject work under him, however at present two ROs in sociology and one in psychology (with history as a subject at undergrad level) and one master are working in this wing.
On 23rd and 24th Sept. 2019, a two day Orientation Program on Right to Education and National Curriculum Framework was organized at State Institute of Education for the functionaries of Education department including CEOs,Principal DIETs, Dy CEOs,DEPOs and HODs. The Orientation Program as per the directions of worthy Commissioner Secretary to Government, School Education Ms. Sarita Chauhan.
A total number of 70 participants including faculty members of SIE Jammu had enlightening sessions on perspectives of National Curriculum Framework besides Right to Education in the light of Draft National Education Policy 2019. Worthy Commissioner Secretary Education Ms. Sarita Chauhan,and DSEJ MS. Anuradha Gupta graced the occasion.
There were deliberations in the social and ethical responsibilities of the stakeholders as per the Right to Education Act. Different resources from diverse platform were used to acquaint the participants with the basic principles of Right to Education Act as well as National Curriculum Framework. Dr. J. N. Baliya from Central University Jammu, Drn Ritu Bakshi from Central University Jammu and Anwar Khan Research Officer were among the Resource Persons.
The Commissioner Secretary School Education department addressed the participants and said that in the light of Right to Education Act 2009 being applicable in J&K after the notification of J&K Reorganization Act 2019. Madam Sarita again said these programs are extremely important to make the functionaries aware and up to date. It is the responsibility of the state to provide free and compulsory education to the children up class 12th.

State Institute of Education Jammu organised Two Days Awareness Programme/Workshop on Disaster Management in collaboration with SDRF 2Bn Jammu on 20th and 21st of March 2018 at Teacher Bhawan Jammu.
A total of 250 Lecturers / Masters/ Teachers from six districts of Jammu Division participated in this workshop.
The main objective of this workshop was to provide information & train the participants in managing and providing first-aid essentials while responding to a disaster like situation.
The workshop was inaugurated by worthy Joint Director (Trainings) / Principal State Institute of Education Jammu Sh Mohd Iqbal who appealed the participants to get trained in Disaster Management and disseminate the relevant information in their respective schools and areas.
Mrs. Kulwant Kour Incharge SST wing / Field Advisor SIE Jammu presented the welcome address and urged the participants to be advantageous and useful members of society.
A well trained and skilled team of SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu headed by Sh.Rashpal Singh ASI; delivered theoretical as well as practical sessions which very effective and attentively attended by the audiences.
Field Advisor Mr K L Parihar and faculty of SIE Jammu also attended this workshop.The co-ordinator of this workshop was Mrs Rakhi Atri Research Officer,SIE Jammu.

Two Days Awareness Programme / Workshop on Road Safety was organised by Social Science Wing of SIE Jammu w.e.f. 16-17 March 2018. The programme was held in collaboration with Traffic Police Department J&K. A total of 40 lecturers/masters/teachers from different districts of Jammu Division participated in the training programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director (trainings)/Principal SIE Jammu Mohd Iqbal who stressed upon the role of teachers in training the students about the safety measures while using roads.
Ms Kulwant Kour Field Advisor / I.c Social Science Wing presented the welcome address and urged to play a constructive role in society.
Ms Shaheen Wahid SP (KPS) Traffic Rural Jammu and Inspector Rakesh Kumar Traffic City Jammu were the Resource Persons from the Traffic Police Department J&K who acquainted the participants and faculty members of SIE Jammu with Traffic Rules and Regulations including sessions on significance of Road Safety symbols, Driving License, Vehicle Insurance, Challaning etc.
The workshop was co-ordinated by Smt Rakhi Atri Research Officer and it was quite effective and interactive.
Divisional Level 'Quiz Competition in Social Science' was organised by Social Science Wing of SIE Jammu under the guidance of Principal SIE jammu Jb.Mohd.Iqbal and fecilitated by the Incharge Social Science Wing Smt. Kulwant Kour in SIE Jammu on 27th September; 2017. The programme was co-ordinated by Smt Tapsaya Sharma Research Officer SIE Jammu where as Smt Amita Gandotra, Smt Rakhi Atri and Smt Alka Sharma Research Officers provided logistic support.
A total of Eight teams comprising 3 students each from 8 districts of Jammu division participated in the event. Teams from district Poonch, Reasi and Samba won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. Principal SIE distributed the trophies to the winners in presence of Mohd Altaf Hussain Field Advisor SIE Jammu and deliberated that these quiz competition help students maintain focus and develop essential problem-solving skills despite building teamwork ,motivation and measurable increase in knowledge.

The Objective of the workshop was to create an awereness among the teaching faculty about the significance of being trained in various techniques to be used during any disaster.
36 Participants from 10 districts of Jammu Division got the advantage of gaining theoretical as well as practical knowledge in the traning.
The resource persons from SDRF and Civil Defence Deppt J&K effectively conducted this training prgramme which culminated successfully on 31st Aug 2017.
A divisional level seminar on Beti Bachao Beti Padao was organised by the Social Science wing of SIE Jammu on 11th of August 2017 under the able guidance of Mr Mohd Iqbal Joint Director Trgs/ Principal SIE Jammu.
A total of 23 participants along with their escort teachers from 09 districts of Jammu Division participated in the seminar. The participants spoke about the importance of the girl child and their education is necessary for the development of any nation. The participants emphasis the role of a girl child in nation building.
Eknoor from Aryan oriental Convent Udhampur stood first while second and third prizes were bagged by Pallavi Sharma from HSS Barwal Kathua and Neha Bhagat from GGHSS Reasi respectively.
The Joint Director trgs / Principal SIE Mr Mohd Iqbal encouraged the participants and he also exhorted the people sitting in the seminar to promote girl education.

A Two days workshop on Juvenile Delinquency w.e.f. 03.07.2017 to 04.07.2017 was conducted by Social Science Wing of SIE Jammu in which 40 teachers and masters from all the districts of Jammu Devision participated.

One Day Divisional Level Painting Competition for students was organised by Social Science Wing of SIE Jammu under the overall supervision of worthy Joint Director(trgs)/ Principal SIE Jammu Jenab Mohd Iqbal.
Themes for this painting competition were Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Water Conservation, Road Safety and Digital India.
Students from various districts of Jammu Division participated in this painting competition and exhibit their talent on canvas.
