About Science Wing

The officers and official working in Science Wing are Research officers, Lab Assistants and Lab Bearers headed by Field Advisor.

Role & Responsibility
The science wing of the institute is engaged in imparting various training programme to the field teachers at Secondary Level. The main functions of Science Wing are:
  • Organisation of Pre-Service & In-service Training programmes of Teacher education with special emphasis on subject content in Science.
  • Preparation of Guide books for teachers in science subject (instructional material).
  • Organization of correspondence courses for teachers in various subjects in collaboration with NCERT and NUEPA.
  • Organization of meetings, conferences, seminars, lecturers, demonstrations, quizs and other programmes to spread the understandings of the Educational Journals, reports studies etc from time to time in the field of Educational research and training.
  • Monitoring of Jawahar Lal Nehru Science Exhibitions and INSPIRE Award Scheme Science Exhibitions organized at District Level.
  • Organization of Jawahar Lal Nehru Science Exhibitions and INSPIRE Award Scheme Science Exhibitions organized at Divisional Level and State Level.
  • To initiate conduct and evaluate studies of various short term and long term programme concerning universalization of education,enrollment drives, wastage and stagnation, work experience.
  • To construct and standardize intelligence tests, scholastic achievement test in Science.
  • To conduct surveys of programmes for on the Job Training and studies in science educational plan and statistical analysis.
  • To help DIETs in devising statistical tools in the form of questionnaires schedules, opinion forms for understanding action research programmes at the district level.
  • To take up research and action research projects, Poilt studies, case studies and collaborate with the inter research studies that the institute of education has to take up from time to time.
  • To construct tests for guidance and identification of talented children , devise suitable tool for making objective supervision and inspection of school , conduct studies in cost of science education.
  • Publication of its six monthly progress report regularly.
  • Organization of short training courses in modern management techniques for education officers and administrators.
  • To conduct Annual Assessment test.
  • To conduct national Achievement survey.
  • Orientation courses for Sc. Teachers special for practicals.
  • Review of Curriculum.
  • Creation of subject experts from the field with co-operation of DIET.

9th State Level Exhibition and Project Competition (SLEPC) under INSPIRE Award-MANAK Scheme 2019-20

State Institute of Education Jammu under the overall guidance of Director, School Education Jammu Ms. Anuradha Gupta and supervision of Sh J.K.Sudan Joint Director (Trgs)/Principal SIE Jammu organized the 9th State Level Exhibition and Project Competition (SLEPC) under INSPIRE Award-MANAK Scheme 2019-20 sponsored by Department of Science and Technology Govt. of India on 9th of January 2020 at Govt Girls High School Gandhi Nagar Jammu .

The Exhibition was inaugurated by Sh. Hirdesh Kumar Singh (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu (J&K). Ms. Anuradha Gupta (KAS), Director School Education, Jammu and Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas (KAS), State Project Director, Samagar Shiksha, Jammu were the Guests of Honour on the occasion. Apart from students and teachers, Chief Education Officers and Principal DIETs also graced the occasion . While inaugurating the SLEPC, Sh. Hirdesh Kumar Singh (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu (J&K) applauded the participants and their innovative ideas which can be further put into practical shape for benefit of the society. Director School Education Jammu Ms Anuradha Gupta also commended the young minds for braving the harsh weather conditions to participate in the event.

The exhibition displayed 136 innovative science models prepared by students of both government and private schools of Jammu Division.

An independent jury comprising experts in the field of Physics, Chemistry and Bio Sciences drawn from Jammu University along with representatives of Department of Science and Technology New Delhi adjudicated the models displayed in the exhibition. Best 10% of the exhibits were selected and recommended for National Level Exhibition and Project Competition, to be held at New Delhi.

In the valedictory function, the prizes were distributed to National Level Exhibits by the Joint Director (Trgs)/Principal SIE Jammu Sh. J.K.Sudan in the presence of august gathering. While speaking on the occasion, Sh J K Sudan said that these type of the events are the need of the hour to inculcate the scientific temper amongst the young taughts and keep them motivated to persue their career in science world. He also thanked Headmaster GHS Gandhi Nagar for her support and co-operation in making the event successful.

The event was co-ordinated by Incharge Inspire SIE Jammu Ms. Ashu Magotra, RO with the active support and co-operation of all the staff members of SIE Jammu. The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Sh Anwar Khan RO SIE Jammu.

Five days Capacity Building Program in Teaching of Science specially with reference to projects in Science

Five days Capacity Building Program in Teaching of Science specially with reference to projects in Science for Science teachers of Jammu Division was organised by Science Wing of SIE Jammu w.e.f. 17 to 21 July 2017. The workshop was attended by 34 number of participants from various districts of Jammu Division.

The main objective of the workshop was to increase the spirit of enquiry, creativity, objectivity and aesthetic sensibility for making the learners good citizen and also to make teaching of science more exciting, enjoyable and educational. In this workshop, Mr J.P.Singh; Mr Shashi Paul Sharma and Sh B.D.Sharma acted as Resource Person.

The workshop was co-ordinatored by Sh NandKishore +2 Principal and facilitated by Sh K.L.Parihar FA I/c Science Wing under the overall supervision of Mohd Iqbal Joint Director Trainings /Principal SIE Jammu.

Capacity Building Programme for KRPs in Teaching of Science

Five Days Capacity Building Programme for KRPs in Teaching of Science with special reference to Projects in Science organized by Science Wing of SIE Jammu.

Its main objective was to make teaching learning process in science using investigatory methods which inculcate the curiosity among the students towards science. The programme was co-ordinated by Mr Charan Dass Research Officer facilitated by Mr K.L. Parihar FA / I.c Science Wing SIE Jammu.

In total 23 participants from various districts of Jammu Division participate in this workshop.
